Understanding and Evading Community Bans: A Guide to CFTools

It is important to understand the difference between a server ban and a game ban. A server ban is issued by a community server administrator and only affects that specific server or a group of shared servers. It does not prevent you from playing on official servers or other community servers.

The main danger is the network of shared ban lists. Many servers pool their ban data. If you are banned on one server that participates in such a network, you may find yourself automatically banned on another server the moment you join. For example, a ban from the "Rearmed" server will trigger an instant ban on "Kryptic" because they share the same list.

Server administrators use a combination of paid tools and custom software to monitor player activity.

CFTools:
This is a widely used, paid administration tool. It collects a vast amount of data while you play and makes it accessible to anyone who subscribes. This includes:
• Hit accuracy and percentage per body bone.
• Kill/Death ratio.
• Total hours played.
• A history of all nicknames used on an account.
• Linked alternative accounts.

Administrators can also manually share information, such as their internal ban lists, or contribute to larger community ban lists.

Some servers install custom files that act as a server-side anti-cheat. These tools grant access to detailed logs and detections:

• Kill Logs: Record the killer, victim, distance, weapon, and positions of both players.
• Item Logs: Track every time you pick up, use, drop, or store an item.
• Interaction Logs: Log actions like looting bodies, shots dispersed, and damage given or taken.
• Playtime Logs: Record login, logout, total playtime, and disconnect reason (timeout, quit, crash).

Position Detection: Tracks your velocity across the map to detect teleporting or speed hacks. This often sends an alert to an admin or triggers an automatic ban.

Magic Bullet Detection: Flags kills that are statistically impossible, such as a long-distance kill with a very low-caliber weapon.

No Recoil Detection: Detects abnormal weapon angles. A no-recoil script can cause your character to look at the sky while bullets fly straight.

Bullet Tracer Drawing: Administrators can see a visual trace of a bullet's path. A magic bullet that teleports from you to a target without traveling the distance is clearly visible.

Dupe Detection: Identifies duplicate item IDs and warns admins if you drop or store items in a suspicious pattern before a restart or disconnect.

Hardware & Network: MAC address and IP range logs.

Geolocation: Your approximate physical location.

File Traces: Some invasive tools can scan for traces in your Steam folders, DayZ settings, and temporary/appdata directories.

The most effective way to avoid a ban is to not use obvious features and to maintain a natural play style.

Features to Avoid Completely:

Speed Hack: Easily detected by server-side velocity checks and often generates an instant admin alert.

Magic Bullets / Silent Aim: Extremely easy to catch through kill logs, bullet tracers, and statistical analysis. This is one of the fastest ways to get banned.

Changing Day Time: A common mistake is forgetting this feature is active. Killing players in total darkness without night vision goggles while an admin is spectating is an immediate red flag.

No Recoil: Makes your character's aim point wildly upward, which is obvious to a spectator.

Free Cam / No Clip: Often leaves a detectable "item" at your origin point. If an admin uses an item ESP while spectating you, your position is instantly compromised.

Separate Your Identities: Never use the same Discord account for playing DayZ and for joining cheat-related servers. Administrators monitor these communities. If they link your cheat-forum profile to your in-game identity, you will be banned. Use a completely different nickname for any cheating-related activity.

Loot Naturally: Do not run in a straight line directly to hidden stashes or rare items. Pause to look around and simulate a normal search pattern.

Use ESP Discreetly: Do not stare at players through walls by moving your mouse or using the ALT key to turn your head toward them. Use your peripheral vision to glance at the ESP overlay without turning your character's head.

Practice Game Sense: Never run directly toward an enemy's position. Always swivel your view to scan the surroundings, even if you know no one is nearby. Make a habit of performing full 360-degree checks periodically.

Account Selection: Use an aged Steam account with a history of genuine play hours. An account with hundreds of "idle" hours (from running the game menu) is a red flag.

Optional Tip: You can subscribe to CFTools yourself to monitor your own stats and see what admins see. However, never reveal this to a server administrator, for example, by citing CFTools data in a ban appeal.

If you have been banned and wish to play again without being automatically re-banned, you must change every piece of identifiable data the servers track. This process is methodical.

Steps to Take:
1. Delete Traces: A full operating system reset is the most reliable method to remove deeply tracked file traces, as some server-side tools scan random files. A tool like Revo Uninstaller is a less thorough alternative.
2. Spoof Your IP: Changing a dynamic IP is a good first step, but some servers track IP ranges. A private proxy is a more secure solution. A risky but alternative method is to join a server using a VPN shared by hundreds of other banned accounts; your profile will get lost in the noise, and admins may disregard it.
3. Change Your Nickname: Double-check your game launcher parameters and in-game settings to ensure you are not connecting with a previously banned nickname.
4. Buy a New Account: This must be an aged account with genuine play hours. When buying from marketplaces like Playerok or lolz, specifically ask the seller to confirm the hours are from active gameplay, not idling.
